As has been established by now, I like a bad old movie, including and especially a bad western. Usually there’s at least some entertainment value. But not only is William Nigh’s Riding the California Trail a bad western with a ridiculous plot and mediocre acting, but it’s bad western with a ridiculous plot and mediocre acting and everyone using a stereotypical Spanish-Mexican accent. Oh dear. The “plot” is Gilbert Roland with a ridiculous accent playing a bandit who enters a new town and finds that a generous rich woman is being scammed by her uncle and fiance for her money and there’s some swords in a wannabe Zorro style and who really cares.

Bad western + racist accents= 2/10
